Architect: Tim Gough Architecture
Client: Private art collector requiring extension/refurbishment of a flat in Bermondsey, London.
Project
This project involved the complete rebuild and refurbishment of a penthouse flat on the top floor of a Bermondsey apartment block. The work included the demolition and removal of the existing building whilst retaining the original roof structure.
Using non-standard design features and many specialist and reclaimed materials the build needed a great deal of attention to detail. We worked closely with the client, architect, and specialist subcontractors to provide the atmosphere the client sought for their art collection and commissioned artworks.
Particular attention was paid to the tiled finishes in the bathrooms, with tiles imported from Japan by Raven. The bathrooms were designed in such a way that no tile was cut. Almost everything is unique in the flat, including the purpose-made door handles, kitchen from rusted metal and Calacatta Borghini marble, purpose-made light fittings.
